When Tony McEachern was diagnosed in 2003 with a grade III brain tumor, his world was turned upside down. Tony was a world-class athlete competing in long distance adventure races. He was diagnosed exactly one year after finishing the 621 mile 2002 Raid Gauloises adventure race across Vietnam.
Tony says, “Looking back, that race seemed easy compared to the five neurosurgeries, two years of radiation and five different types of chemotherapy I endured. What made my personal endurance race against cancer winnable was the support and dedication of doctors, nurses, and the love and support from my amazing family and friends. Most important to the fight for my life was the support, knowledge, and sharing of experiences from other cancer survivors. Survivor support made the difference in winning the cancer battle.”
Tony’s support was instrumental in helping his good friend Lori Mishos win the battle against multiple cancer diagnoses, twenty surgeries, and the paralysis of her left leg. Tony asked Lori to partner with him to form Team Tony Foundation so other’s diagnosed with cancer would get the support and resources they need to conquer their cancer battle. Team Tony believes no one should face cancer alone.
Team Tony Foundation is a unique, free service that is dedicated to providing 1-on-1 support and resources to those diagnosed with cancer.
Our team matches a cancer fighter with a cancer survivor that provides support, friendship, empathy, knowledge, and resources (on a case by case basis). This relationship allows the cancer fighter the opportunity to receive the help and guidance from someone who understands and has experienced cancer. If you or someone you love is diagnosed with cancer, Team Tony is here to help. We support the cancer fighter every step of the way.
